Scalp Psoriasis
The vast majority of people with psoriasis have plaque psoriasis. Typically, characteristics include patches on the elbows, knees, scalp and lower back, but it can be found on any area of the skin. Each patch usually looks like a red raised patch with overlying flaky white scaly surface that feels rough. The patches are well defined, can be single or multiple occurrences, and can vary in size (one to over twelve inches).
Some plaque psoriasis sufferers get psoriasis only on their scalp, and periodically a few spots on the rest of their body. Scalp psoriasis basically looks like a really bad case of dandruff, but can be very annoying or painful depending on the level of severity.
